Mission Statement
At Tora Dentō Martial Arts, our mission is to preserve and pass on the traditions of time-honored values and cultural heritage, all while fostering an inclusive community. Our dojo is a place where individuals of all backgrounds come together to learn, support one another, and honor the legacy of those who came before us.
The tiger is a powerful symbol in martial arts, representing strength, courage, discipline, and ferocity since 1922. This is when Gichin Funakoshi Sensei introduced the “Tora no Maki” which now embodies the spirit of Shotokan Karate. And for over 30 years, this same symbol has also represented the dedication and teachings of Pat Pusateri Sensei.
The passing of knowledge, traditions, and values from one generation to the next reflects our commitment to our ancestors and our history.
